Introduction This paper will explore the value and significance of documentation in design process. By research and documentation the creative production can be understood. This paper reviews the importance of documentation through three completed assignments. While working on any project or assignment our main focus remains on the end product and procedure of documenting the process just remains a word. Artist and designers integrate research methods into their creative processes in diverse way. Indeed, the field of qualitative research in particular, seems to be able to constructively support creative production. No, documentation is not something people just do because they like to do it; it is actually important. However, documents and their usefulness should always be held up to scrutiny, and improvements should be made whenever possible. Background Documents can be exciting, inspiring, and creative forms of expression. Documents can be "living" data, intended to be evolving road maps that can empower a client team long after the vendor has left and the project deliverables have been handed over. Documents are often the foundations that survive the longest and inform the next iteration of thinking. They are building blocks that should inform the future, not create problems or bottlenecks for the present. While working on projects either for a client or at the educational level we do not directly start out by working on the final layout or design. Voluntarily or involuntarily we always follow a process. The design process may vary from project to project and person to person as per the kind of project and client However, the key elements remain the same which are as below: - Research - Creative space - Analysing the creative idea - Decisive moment - Reflection - Final product or design Research Question The research question that I will cover in this paper is what importance documentation plays in design process. Some of the most important documentation we create is where we restate recommendations or strategic goals. The basic aim of documentation is to learn from implementation experience and in the light of this modify the design process. Documentation of processes helps in creating systematic information to articulate the intervention. Method Documentation, when done successfully, can keep every further step in process focused. Additionally, documentation creates trust. Two of the main methods that I came across during the class assignments are: - Reflective method - Decisive moment During the three week class with Christel, we were given various assignments of different genres.
