The concert I watched is called “Madawaska Ensemble Concert." Unlike the others I watched before, I chose to watch something I have not watched before. In this concert report, rather than talking about the song, I would like to talk more about how the chamber music group worked together without a conductor during the concert. Also, I am a clarinet player and I want to know more about how the others instruments communicate in chamber music. This ensemble consisted of four players: one piano player, one violin player, one viola player and one cello player. I have never watched a string chamber group play before so I felt excited and wanted to see how they do in chamber music. They have play two songs in the concert. Both songs are composed by Johannes Brahms. The first song is called “Piano Quartet A Amjor Op 26.” It has four movements. The second song is called “Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60.” In these two songs, the main melody is on the violin player and the others play the harmonic. But still, there are some places for the others to solo. The performance is great and the great balance between them is the biggest reason. With a great balance in chamber music, things will be clean and smooth. How they communicate with each others while playing is the biggest different between band and chamber music. In concert band, there is conductor to give the musician directions of how they play; in chamber music, there is no conductor and they have to do it by themselves. Since that musicians cannot speak during the performance, the body language is how they communicated in chamber music. The first way is eye contact. In this group, there are two kind of eye contacts. One is between the violin player and the pianist; one is between the three string players. There are two eye contacts due to the way they sit. The violin player is the closest to the pianist so that she is the one who communicate with the pianist. I saw that the violi
