The ability to perceive with our eyes, perhaps man’s greatest gift, is rapidly going to waste, as our once beautiful planet is turning into a drab, monotonous site filled with bleak buildings, humdrum homes, and lugubrious laboratories. The beauty that once encompassed our Earth is slowly being depleted. Now you would not wish for your eyes to be deprived of nature’s elegance and beauty, would you? Nature, a truly enchanting gift given to mankind, provides us with picturesque landscapes, splendid waterfalls, mystical caves, dazzling deserts, lush, emerald forests, breathtaking seascapes, tranquil rivers, and lofty mountain ranges that mesmerize our souls through our eyes. On top of the visual pleasures, nature provides us with a place we call home. Sadly, this “home” of ours is slowly but surely being devastated by mans’ desires. This desire for more than what we have emerges from us due to our human nature, as thoughts of greed, selfishness, and hunger for contentment plague our minds, ultimately resulting in ignorant and harmful actions. Sure, it may be in our nature to desire more in life; however, there are proper ways to go about obtaining and satisfying our aspirations. The way we handle powering our society is not the best way, and also slightly embarrassing. Even with all the advancements of technology at our disposal, we continue to utilize neanderthalic methods in order to obtain oil and other fossil fuels, ultimately harming not only our dearest Earth, but also our own species. Fracking, perhaps one of the worst and most detrimental methods of extracting fuel from our Earth has become incredibly popular over the last couple of years. Fracking consists of drilling deep wells and injecting toxic chemicals to fracture the rock and release oil (“Fracking”). Our Earth will be a significantly cleaner and better place once the detrimental effects of fracking are reduced. We must bring an end to fracking to save ourselves and our beautiful Earth. The benefits that we will potentially receive from the reduction of fracking can be divided into three main categories: 1. REVIVAL OF NATURE’S BEAUTY – Drab. Desolate. Dilapidated. Take a moment and imagine living in a world with the qualities listed. Not very pleasant is it? Mesmerizing. Glamorous. Serene. Now, imagine living in a world with these qualities. This seems much lovelier doesn’t it? With the reduction of fracking, nature will be able to cultivate and thrive in areas that it has not been able to. Unfortunately, many people claim that fracking is not nearly as harmful as other methods of oil extraction; however, these people do not realize that the chances of earthquakes
