The United States of America seemed to be much interested in political scenes between 1800s until the early 1900s. Undeniably, politics are the major drivers of any country, regional, or union, because political stability translates to well-being in other environments such as social and economic areas. The US experienced major political changes in the 1800s-1900s periods ranging from successful wars, expansion of territorial control, high political influence in the policing department, realization of democracy and advent into a modern world. Essentially, the US seemed to struggle to gain political power during the 1800s owing to the many fights with many countries, especially Spain and Mexico. Notably, the 1800s was witnessed with some powers such as Europe and Japan enjoying many privileges compared to America (Age of Imperialism, 499). This prompted then the president (Theodore Roosevelt) to instruct construction of the Panama Canal, thus give the US a comparative advantage against the imperial powers of Europe and japan (Age of Imperialism, 499). This signaled the beginning of political changes in the US. The Europeans and Americans had a competing interest of building a canal across Central America, and Americans won the battle as they able to construct the Panama Canal successfully, with the help of Panama that revolted against Colombians (Age of Imperialism, 500). The United States continued to exert its power in the region throughout the early 1900s, because completion of Panama Canal saw the US have a large stake in the Latin America region (Age of Imperialism, 500). This confirmed expansion of the USs political power in the 1800s through early 1900s. Additionally, the Mexican war during 1800s and early 1900s gave the US an upper hand of gaining more territorial control, thus a political change.
