Through the article, Should Everyone Go To College, author Ann E.K. Sobel expressed her opposing attitude towards the concept that everyone should go to college. Here are several reasons she has given to support her argument. First of all, not everyone has the intelligent ability which is required for studying in college. Secondly, devoting oneself into his passion is more meaningful than get a degree from college. Thirdly, advanced degree doesn't guarantee a job with the expected corresponding salary. Lastly, go to college is not the best path to success because of the exorbitant cost. Personally, I totally agree with the idea of the author, for some people, the attainment of a college degree is neither feasible nor necessary. First of all, the author argued that not everyone is intelligently capable of the college. In higher level education, college admission is stricter and harder than at other levels. Most universities require ACT or SAT scores for admission, because they are regarded as strong indicators to predict whether a student is capable to perform well in college. Some people may get very impressive SAT scores. Then they are more hopeful to be admitted by some prestigious school such as Harvard and Yale. But for those who only get 400 or even less in SAT, they are not in a position to get in good colleges and are even not able to be admitted by schools. Furthermore, obtaining a college degree requires more than just superior intellectual ability. Personality characteristics such as organization, dedication, studying skills, independence, and test-taking skills all influence the potential to obtain a degree (Sobel,1). Maybe a student can pass the admission , but it doesn't mean he or she is able to survive in college. Some schools have very strict and ruthless elimination system to keep their students in competition and assiduity. If one is not doing well in his final or midterm, he may will be expelled. For those who are not in a position to get in college or cannot survive in college, why should they keep wasting time on such a blind alley? Maybe it's better for them to find another path
