I read a very unique story this past weekend, you have to read it too! I was looking through my father's old dusty book shelf and I came across this marvelous book entitled "The Necklace." It is one of the most well-known short stories written by Guy de Maupassant. For a good reason, it's the tragedy of Madame Loisel who has always fantasized of exchanging her dull reality, for the life of beauty and wealth. As I read the story, I realized that her dream, turns into her worst nightmares. Characters - Mathilde Loisel, the main dynamic character in the story, also the protagonist. An egotistical middle-classed young lady that you'd defiantly try to avoid. She was always engrossed in appearing rich, which made her less concerned with the significance of her constitutional values, and that proved to me that she wasn't satisfied and contented with her existence. - Monsieur Loisel, one of the static characters in the story. He's a government agent whom Mathilde marries. - Madame Jeanne Foster, another static character in the story, also she's of Mathilde's old friends. She hands a necklace to Mathilde to burrow, and to wear it at a social event. Setting The action takes place in Paris, France, in the second half of the nineteenth century. When the story begins, the protagonist, also known as Madame Loisel resides happily in her own home and has a fair amount money. As the story progresses, the character goes to an appealing area, and she spends the happiest moments of her life. Then Madame Loisel reaches a poor point in her life where she has to work in order to get everything she needs. The author uses setting to show the character's place when she was dishonest and how she was punished. When Madame Loisel lied, she existed in a bad setting, but when she faced the consequences, she lived in the worst setting of the story. Conflicts Madame Loisel is outraged, and unpleased with her home and husband when the story begins. Her husband
