Boeing Aircraft Company and their competitor, Airbus are both interested in increasing sales, and profits. Both companies recognize the nature and importance of profits. The overall goal of Boeing and Airbus is to maximize profits and the company's value. Boeing Aircraft Company started in the year 1910, was incorporated in 1916, and became the first airplane factory. In the year of 1969, Airbus entered the airplane manufacturing industry, which heightened competition and reduced the margins of Boeing in the airplane manufacturer industry. For Airbus to enter in this industry, they had to widen consumer bases and create markets. This was not easy, especially the global market in which companies operate today. The best labor force, management, and the most efficient, and recent technology means nothing without the customers. For Airbus to compete, they needed a superior product, but they also had to understand the competition. Supply and Demand are the driving economic forces behind the market. Market research reveals that, holding all other things constant, the quantity of parts companies are willing and able to purchase goes down as the price rises, which is known as the law of demand. The competition between Boeing and Airbus is that they offer the same products. Demand shifts between the two exist because there are variables other than price of a part or service that can influence demand. Further issues for companies include having to compete in different markets with different consumers, with different needs. For example, Boeing not only is an aircraft manufacturer, but they also sell rockets and satellites, while Airbus is just selling aircrafts. Additionally, there are different regional or local companies to deal with. There have been more aircraft manufacturing companies that have entered in the industry.
