Most people in this world from middle school and up have a social network account. Most people are also addicted to these “obsessions” such as Facebook, ask.fm, snapchat, instagram, and twitter. Social networks can help people form study groups and connect with old friends. However, Social networks can also lead to bullying, sexual harassment, and lower grades. Social networks are a distraction that has a negative impact on students from middle school and up. Social networks set up a dangerous environment, especially for teens. Some girls have been harassed by male friends, they met on Facebook, Elizabeth Carroll, a clinical psychologist said, “Yes, I do believe social networks are actually dangerous because you have pictures of yourself there and updating stuff you do, want, feel like doing, etc. there is a lot of people seeing it and could possibly even stalk you. There’s a lot of people that could just easily paste and copy your picture and put it in other websites or act like you and say/put stuff that you didn't even put which causes problems or “haters” as they now call who can mess with your stuff.” said Mariana Zuniga, from Weslaco East High (quoted in Writer). Anything that is put on the internet, never comes down. Some people might say that snapchat deletes all the pictures that are sent to each other. However, that is a lie. Snapchat is built on a lie that digital images disappear. They don’t. Once you take a picture with your device and send it to another person you've given up control of that image. It might get deleted. Most likely not. Nowadays, there has been an app called Snap Saver to download all pictures sent to yourself. Send a nude to someone who has the app, and now you've given your nude to someone to keep. Social networks are very dangerous and not recommended to young teens.
