In order to accomplish being a healthy person, you must understand the steps in the process. Eating right is such an important part of being healthy. When making your meals, try to limit your portions, meaning give yourself just enough to almost fill you but make sure it’s an appropriate amount. Additionally, include all of your food groups eating throughout the day. It’s important to make sure you're getting enough protein, fruit, vegetables, dairy and grains. If you're having trouble knowing what’s good to eat and how much, it’s always helps to look at a food pyramid. Lastly, a big part of eating healthy is that it’s okay to have a cookie or maybe a soda every now and then but it’s super important to limit your sugar intake. Too much sugar can actually lead to obesity, diabetes and more. Developing positive self-habits is a key factor to living a healthy lifestyle. Making sure you get enough sleep every night (about 6-8 hours depending on age), really affects your day to day life. “10,000 people participated in a study. Those with insomnia were five times as likely to develop depression as those without” (Peri and Siebern). Sleep is also important to being healthy because without sleep you’d have no energy and you are actually much more prone to get sick. Just like being sleep-deprived, stress can also lead to depression so making sure you take time to yourself every day, even if its fifteen minutes, it can really help your body and mind relax.
