When using social media, it can be good and bad. It helps people communicate with people from the past or who live far away, but at the same time, it can be bad for a variety of reasons. Looking at the good side of social media, it makes it easier for people to keep in touch with those who live far away. People who moved away from their hometown, which they grew up and graduated in, can keep up with what old friends are doing in their life. My mom, for example, moved four hours away from where she grew up. She has friends that moved even further away. The only way she has been able to see what is going on in their lives is with social media. Social media is also a good way to share photos of your vacations so that all of your friends can see. An example of this is when the Archer County 4-H horse judging team went to compete at nationals in Ohio. Everybody at home that was supporting them heard how they did through social media. In a couple of weeks, a friend of mine will be going to Washington D.C. without her parents. Her family will be able to see everything she is doing because of all the pictures that she can post on social media. Several news companies have started joining the social media because it is a quick way to release news to the public. A lot of times, if there is breaking news during the middle of the day, these stories will be released on social media because most people can get on and view the stories online. This also helps for those who aren't home when the news comes on television. Most people don't get off work until five and they aren't home to see the newscast. There are also people who rely on social media for news updates because it may take too long for a specific story to come on. Large businesses that do lots of advertising have started using social media as a source of advertisement. As many people that get on social media, it easy to post things for everybody to see.
