The Issue of Acne

21 Pages 1315 Words 1557 Views

A common embarrassment for people (mostly teens) today is acne. These evil spots appear all over faces, seemingly only to make the otherwise beautiful face disgusting. Many people, to fix this problem, blame chocolate and believe that eating chocolate makes acne worse. But chocolate lovers will be overjoyed to learn that chocolate and acne are unrelated, at least according to the studies that have so far been done. According to How Stuff Works, the consumption of chocolate cannot be pinpointed as the cause of acne or the increase in the amount of acne. A bacteria strain named acne vulgaris causes acne. This bacteria breeds in places such as pores and hair follicles. The aggravators of acne, however, change from person to person. Stress, environmental pollutants, and hormonal surges are just three of these aggravators. Dairy products and foods high in sugar can also worsen acne. However, the claim that chocolate alone has caused or aggravated acne has not been proven as chocolate has never been isolated in an experiment. In these experiments, many other factors could have been involved and led to the causation or aggravation of acne. This misconception about chocolate may have been caused by the faulty experiments done so far. Many of the studies done so far have used chocolate upon subjects in order to determine whether chocolate worsens acne. However, none of them have studied the effects of chocolate alone. The subjects may have had external factors causing acne such as stress or other foods. Chocolate cannot be considered the cause of acne or the worsening of acne therefore.A common embarrassment for people (mostly teens) today is acne.
