The amount of crimes committed by young people increase all around the world. Every single day we read or watch different stories about thieves, burglars and even murderers. More interestingly reports suggest that the average age of criminals decrease day by day. There are various motives which push young people to commit crime. The amount of violence in the media, decreasing level of education and differences in income levels among citizens are the common reasons of the increasing number of criminal cases. To begin with, it is a well-known fact that today’s generation is exposed to a huge amount of violence through media. Movies showing criminals as heroes, such as in “Ocean’s Eleven” – a very famous movie about thieves, online video games where players aim to kill as many people as they can affect young people and change their perception of what is right and what is wrong. This is also the result of decreasing education levels. In the modern world, especially in big cities usually both parents work and children start school at a very early age. If the education system is not efficient enough to teach them the difference between right and wrong, young people can easily be influenced by the violence that they already see everywhere and therefore they may be inclined to commit crime. Another significant reason why young people tend to commit more crimes these days is the inequalities among different socioeconomic groups of the society. The gap between the rich and the poor expands everywhere. Especially in big cities this is felt the most. The wealthy can live in a luxurious life right beside people who cannot find enough money just to survive. Some people steal simply because otherwise they might starve.
