For many people, being themselves is a really difficult task. There is a lazy solution to change the way that other's view them. The solution is using a mask when someone is near, and taking it off when no one is around. The word, "mask," means, "person," in Greek. In other words, a mask is trying to appear to be another person. There are many masks that people wear. There exist indifference masks, aggressive masks, and popular masks, each with unique attitudes. Indifference is caused by a sad feeling, of compromise and work. The people who wear this mask usually tend to have an attitude of not caring for what happens around them, or others. They pretend they don't mind what others think, or says about them. The mask is for protection, and controlling the fear of getting hurt by someone important. A good example of a person with this kind of mask on, is the main character of the super hero movie, "Hancock." This character is indifferent to how he can hurt others and how others hurt him. The second mask is a kind of cover, or a defense wall for things that can hurt them. This aggressive mask is a pattern of distrust of people. If you have a question for this mask wearer, they're going to search for an excuse, or just skip the question. They try to keep others away by being controversial. An example is the character of the, "Hunger Games," series, Katniss Everdeen. In this story Katniss is use to keeping loved ones away, by being aggressive with them. Being popular is something that a lot of people aspire to. People try to be popular in many schools, and at work. At school this mask is more frequently used by high school students; they feel the need to go to parties, have nice clothes, drink and even use drugs. These actions are a part of the popularity mask.
