How one handles a stressful situation at work can significantly affect their professional success. I believe in Matt’s case he wanted to be prepared as much as possible when he started this job. Thinking ahead and being prepared would and help Matt. To avoid potentially stressful situations at work I think that one needs to think about how they would react to stress at the workplace in ways that would minimize its impact. When Matt first started this job he wanted to make sure that he was prepared. He went through the proper training that his company feels will give him the best experience to use. He felt that he was ready to handle a situation after his training. Matt seemed to have confidence in his decision making. Matt stayed organized, focused, and on-task when dealing with Mr. Nauman’s situation. He thought about the situation and what needed to be done. He thought about every reason that the car could be missing. He stayed calm and assessed the situation. He narrowed it down to two possibilities of where Mr. Nauman’s car could be as well as his wallet and briefcase. Matt made a decision about what happened with the car and belongings and made a plan to fix it. He had been trained that customers are the main priority. Matt showed that Mr. Nauman was his top priority. His first instinct was to go get the rental car from Mr. Bowman. As I see that this is a great solution I feel that Matt should have spoken with his supervisor about coverage when he was gone. The drive of 50 minutes there and 50 minutes back is quite a long time to be away in what Matt called as a busy check-out time. He stated that all the valets were needed to meet the demand of the guests. In this particular case, I am not sure it is the best idea for Matt himself to go to the airport car rental store. I think that this is something that he should’ve discussed further with his boss. I do know that his boss wanted him to handle the situation, however,
