Responsibilities of Radiologists Identifying a career in Radiology is essential when expanding knowledge, skills, and certification. Obtaining an occupation in Radiology (Diagnostic Imaging) includes pursuing and maintaining a career that is "utilizing the most current state-of-the-art imaging technology (CMC). Preparing for this field is important for the future of diagnosis, to provide the highest quality procedures and treatments to each patient. A radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating disease and injury; using medical imaging techniques such as X-rays, CT (computed tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), ultrasound, and radiation therapy. There are over 130 radiologic procedures that can be preformed. It is important to obtain certification and adequate training to show understanding in these imaging techniques. The most common educational path for a radiologic technologist to take starts with an Associates degree. Radiologists are usually board certified and must go through two years of formal training programs to ensure a high level of education in the field.
