Taking this class has shown me that history is much more than just remembering facts. This class has taught me to realize that history is made by people just like myself. We are all just people trying to live our lives and survive during our time. The people who make history often have the same problems we are still facing today, just with different circumstances. History is always changing. History is always being made every day and added to. When we think about history, we tend to think back to various periods of time. We generalize history by eras, by the decades, but when you look at history as a whole, it is so much more than that. We use history as a way to reflect back on what has happened in the past. We categorize history into different social categories. There are many different historical views from many different social backgrounds. History is so much more than just simply memorizing random facts and events. History is about emphasizing with the people who lived through it and made history what it is. Everyone who has ever lived has made an impact in history in some way or another. We make history every single day and we will continue to make history as long as time goes on. As long as there is humankind to record history, there will always be history. We study history in order to attain a broader understanding of what the world was once like. We study history in order to understand what has changed since a certain time period. Using history, we can analyze how different events led to other events. Studying how history still affects us today can help us solve the problems of tomorrow. If we simply forget our history, we would be forgetting ourselves. Amazing cultures and traditions would simply be lost forever. Remembering what has happened in our past is creating what will happen in our future.
