The Sorcerer’s hat has become a very popular Disney icon; it is located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. The designers of this monument are the Disney Imagineers who are the development arm of the Walt Disney Company, responsible for the creation and construction of Disney theme parks worldwide. It was presented to the public on September 28, 2001. The monument was inspired by the “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” segment in Walt Disney’s 1940 animated film Fantasia. Sources say the monument is to be torn down sometime in 2015 because some feel that its not appropriate for its present location. If they do this, they are making a huge mistake. The Sorcerer’s hat has been a huge symbol of the Hollywood Studios for years now. The intent of the builders was to represent the inspiration of the “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” segment in Walt Disney’s 1940 film Fantasia. They then re purposed it to be a pin trading station in Hollywood Studios. The builder claims that it replaced the Earful Tower as the park’s icon in marketing material and that it’s built in front of The Great Movie Ride. During the celebration of the new monument, interactive kiosks were installed underneath the Sorcerer’s Hat where guests could learn about Walt Disney’s life and career. The celebration ended early in 2003, and the kiosks were then removed. On May 20, 2001, the Sorcerer’s Hat served as the venue for the grand opening ceremony for “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.” Unfortunately the location of the monument has been an issue with Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and this has spread throughout the Disney fan community on several fan sites for years. Overall the Sorcerer’s Hat gives off a happy and delightful feeling as entering the Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The builders of "The Sorcerer’s Hat” create meaning in many different ways. It appeals both emotionally and logically. The logical appeal is the fact that it
