Peer education is an important way to promote healthy behaviors on college campuses. People who are taught by their peers are more likely to hear and understand ways to behave during a situation when they can relate to them about facing concerns and different types of pressure. Peer education can also be more influential than being educated by an older adult about violence, sexual assault, and substance abuse. It provides safer environment for those seeking guidance and support and it helps develop positive norms around a college campus. Many administrators have also believed that peers can play an effective role in encouraging their peers. The strength of peer influence has several benefits on the outcomes of student learning, attitudes, and behaviors. In fact, peers play the most significant role in an undergraduate’s growth and development during college. The people you hang out with and the groups you develop are factors that can influence a person’s growth during college. College and university administrators recognized the important effect that peers have on one another and as a result look to these students to play a pivotal role in enhancing students’ undergraduate education. Peers serve in a variety of leadership and mentoring capacities and present numerous programs such as SAPET, ASPLU, and ROTC to enhance the development of college and university students. The implementation of these programs by peers play a very important role in one’s undergraduate experience. As a college student and a cadet in the ROTC program, I have received and provided peer education before. One of the biggest concerns that the Army has always pushed to educate every member in the military is about gender-based violence such as sexual harassment/ assault. They have ensure that from the those who are already in the military and those who are in training such as college cadets, we get the proper training and peer education about the issues th
