Amelia held many records for flying. She broke altitude records, set speed records, and flew over the Atlantic Ocean. She was courageous, and wouldn’t give flying for anything. Amelia began to push the boundaries for women's rights which lead to having a major impact on society during her time. Woman were not expected to be flying planes at the time, in fact most of women couldn’t even get a decent job. Amelia proved that Women can do the same things as men. Amelia Earhart grew up in Aitchison, Kansas with her father, mother and sister. Things were not always easy for young Amelia. Her father was an Alcoholic who couldn’t keep a job, and her mother couldn’t supply for them all. Amelia Earhart and her sister grew up without that “father” figure to guide them. For Amelia, time’s were very tough and things were not easy for her family. However, having a troubling childhood made Amelia who she was, it was the reason she showed no fear and had a tremendous amount of confidence and courage. Amelia’s past prepared her for the present. Her childhood made her strong, because it gave her the worst and that made it seem like things could only get better. She used it to her advantage, and showed the world what she could do. When Amelia was 10 years old when her father took her to the state fair. It was then Amelia saw her first plane. She was not impressed. “It was a thing of rusty wire and wood and looked not at all interesting.” About 10 years later she Attended a flying exhibition, it was when Amelia Earhart discovered her passion for Aviation.
