When people think about the word “scripture,” the first impression come through their minds might be the Bible because Bible was considered as sacred and authoritative. Different groups of people from different religious also have their own scriptures that they believe. Overall, when people call something scripture, it must be a sacred writings of a religion. There are four largest religions among the world that are Christian, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Each of them has at least one scripture, which people considered as their soul. The scripture regulates human’s duties and behaviors in order to lead people sacred and respect. As we all known, Bible is the scripture for Christian. However, there are different versions of Bible from different groups of people. The most common one is the Christian Bible that contains two parts: Old Testament and New Testament. Nowadays, most of the Christians consider the New Testament as their scripture because it is a newer vision of Bible that covers up the main concepts of the Old Testament. Christians truly believe that God created the universe and first man and woman. God also sent his son Jesus Christ to the world which to help people get rid of evilness. Jesus Christ is the core for the Christianity because he is the creator of Christianity. According to the survey, there are 2.2 billion of Christians in the whole world. It is a huge amount of people. Bible is the key to guide all the Christians together because they respect and sacred it. And that’s why it is the scripture of Christianity. In the world of Islam, Quran is the scripture for Muslims. The word “Quran” means, “recited” in Arabic. Muslims believe that Quran is the saying from Allah who is the God in Islamic world. It delivered verbally by angel Gabriel to Muhammad who is the creator of Islam. Muslims consider Quran is not only the scripture but also the principle law of human society.
