The most recent act of political courage comes from President Obama, and his executive order. This executive order was meant as a way to provide increased support for the Democratic Party. If that is the case why is this an “act of political courage?" With Mr. Obama’s executive order came a lot of enemies. His enemies are obviously Republican, which hold a majority of seat in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. What he probably did not see coming was the enemies he made within his own party. “It is dangerous and irresponsible to engage in stunts and gimmicks affecting funding for the agencies under the Department of Homeland Security,” said Nita Lowey. “This is no way to run a government. We should proceed with negotiations and develop a full omnibus.” Nita Lowey, a Democrat representing New York, is the lead Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee and has the support of many other Democrats on various committees on this issue. The offenses of Obama’s executive order are certainly impeachable, as re-writing a previously existing law is illegal to do through an executive order. Though, as Matt Salmon says "But committing an impeachable offense and getting, ya know, the two-thirds in the Senate to convict are two different stories. So, I mean, we have to play the hand that we are dealt right now." Although the offenses are illegal, removing a President from office is not as easy as pointing that out. A supermajority of votes is needed in both the House and the Senate, and the Republicans only hold a majority of each. The process is also extensively outlined in the Constitution and not likely to change anytime soon. This bill could possibly gain support from a majority of Hispanics and others affected by the problem for the Democrats, although it completely ruins Obama’s political career. His act of courage may have been short-sighted and a spur of the moment sort of action, but if all goes well the
