21 Pages 583 Words 1557 Views

We all perceive differently, process differently, and make decisions based on our personal perceptions. One way that the world is viewed per individual is their freedom of religion. In America, we have the right to practice any religion, or no religion at all. As one chooses to practice a certain religion, they follow a variety of acknowledged rituals or customs that are attached to that religion. Some of the rituals or customs can be noticed from the outside. For instance, one who is religious can select to represent an icon. Furthermore, for some it is regarding their appearance, and last but not least for others it can simply be following a certain book or individual. It is important that we notice and respect the variety of way in which others have chosen to practice religion. First and foremost, one way individuals or groups have managed to show religion in the outside world is through an icon. In many cases we notice different icons such as the Cross displayed. The cross from the Christian religion is meant to be there as a sign of protection from the prophet Jesus Christ. At times it can be viewed hanging on a chain whether it is on a necklace or from a vehicles rearview mirror. At other times we can also see it in another form such as a simple sticker placed on an object where it is to represent a relationship in between the two. Furthermore, Icons can appear nearly on any object appropriate. From t-shirts to paining’s and gear that can be worn, they represent an individual and their practices. In addition, a few other examples can include the different types of clothing available for one as it is due by their religion. An example viewed often and recognized immediately is the Hijab from the Muslim religion. Hijab is a clothing practice where a female would cover her body and head, in order to express loyalty to her man. By covering, she is preventing the general public from being able to see what only her husband is to see.
