Today’s world is filled with social complex problems that citizens find no time, ignore, shrug past their shoulders, blame each other - the politicians or the rich and the powerful and with time they keep building up. Therefore if no one’s healing the world in one way or another, then the question arises “then who is?” I would first start with - Thought = creation. If these thoughts are attached to powerful emotions (good or bad) that speeds the creation for something of magnificent difference. My civic responsibility an educated citizen living in a democratic country where free will is exercised, certain measures are to be take into consideration. They include; perform a self - examination; that is my involvement, time, energy and is the participation worthwhile? What risks, efforts, and costs will it take to get involved? One person cannot the change the world but its start with me, then you to combine collective efforts to achieve a set goal. It’s the values within me that strive me to achieve a sense of empowerment and a pride when something gets accomplished. Heroism is achieved by people just like you and me; nothing is more special about them, just that they started with a leap of faith to achieving their heroic actions. Misconceptions about anyone taking a public stand or an effective one has to have more time, money, energy, vision, or knowledge than the average human being shouldn’t deter me from engaging in society and making changes that matter, even if not foreseen today or the near future, they matter if not to yourself but for another human elsewhere on the continent. I would break down my goals of social involvement into manageable tasks and making them a priority just like work, school, family are a priority, time management is very essential and it’s very easy to get overwhelmed by the demand of my time, energy and social interaction . Practice makes perfect, and from a quote by a French theologian Phillipe Vernier says, “Don’t wait for great strength before setting out, for immobility weakens you further. Do not wait to see very clearly before starting: one has to walk towards the light”. In this emphasis the light is the social problem that I want to make a positive difference, growth and impact to. Everyone has a sense of pride in them and with modern changing times, the pride keeps rising
