Death is a natural process of life, or at least it should be. Every living thing dies at some point, whether it's death is natural or not. What determines when something, or someone dies? Is it age, or exhaustion? Does environment play a factor? Is it biological determinants, or could it be at the hands of another? All of these could be causes of one’s death, and not all of them are natural. When a person dies at the hands of another person, it is homicide. We call it murder. It is immoral, and it is illegal in our society. Usually when a person commits murder, they try to hide the evidence and keep it a secret; they don’t want to be caught. A murderer usually does not taunt the police with letters, and doesn't communicate with the media. Most murderers don’t, but that’s exactly what The Zodiac Killer did, and he has yet to be caught. It started in the late 1960’s, in Northern California. Young lovers were being killed inside their cars, in a well known lover’s lane. After 2 separate attacks, where one survived, a phone call was received at the Vallejo Police Department from a man who claimed responsibility for the attacks on July 5, 1969. That year, on August first, 3 letters at 3 separate newspapers came from the killer, all claiming responsibility for the shootings. They included symbolized cryptograms that were supposed to contain his identity. The attacks continued, witnesses and victims gave descriptions of the killer. The police investigated nearly 2,500 suspects. In October of 1969, another letter was received with a piece of a shirt from one of the victims to prove he was the killer. A few days later, he demanded that a well known lawyer appear on a talk show. He called in to speak with him, identifying himself as, “Sam,” and agreed to meet with him, but never showed.
