The president of the United States, Barrack Obama, is trying to make radical changes that would affect millions of students. Obama’s proposal offers free community college tuition, to any full-time student, who can keep their grade average in a C to an A range. To make this possible, qualifying community colleges would have to offer several academic programs, which will fully transfer credits to local public four-year colleges, universities, or training programs with high graduation rates. Basically, the main goal is to make college more affordable, by benefiting 8 million students each year. However, this proposal represents a disadvantage to other governmental institutions. Obama’s proposal will raise higher education rates, and will create opportunities for students. There are 8 million college students who would benefit from this plan. Generally speaking, many middle-class families and minority students, will save more money. Most of the students that will graduate in 2015 will be able to get into this plan. Many families struggles of higher education costs will be alleviated. There is a good chance more students will take advantage of it. Students will be more likely to enroll, and see college as a viable option.  Every big decision always impacts, and affects other government institutions. Obama is currently disputing all the disadvantages against the proposal. He is trying to make education more affordable for students, and their families. Obama hopes the Congress gets behind this effort. There are many issues and drawbacks, that make it complicated. Many republicans say that the biggest problem of this proposal, is its potential cost.
