The drama, "All My Sons," by playwright Arthur Miller, is about the Keller family, who live comfortably in a suburban American neighborhood. Joe Keller, a successful business man, is married to Kate and together they have two sons Larry and Chris. Larry however, went missing during his service in World War II, and even after three years Kate is still holding on to hope that one day her son will return home. Chris is ready for the family to accept that Larry is gone for good, and really wants to settle down with a long time family friend Ann. The only problem of course is that she is Larry's ex lover. Ann's father Steve, is currently in prison for a crime committed in Joe's factory. He was charged with sending out defective plane parts while knowing they were defective. Joe was also accused of this crime, but was found innocent and was able to go home and make his business bigger and better. Joe's Family and the neighbors all knew deep down that Joe was also guilty of the crime, but never said anything about it. You might ask why Joe do such a horrible thing, or why the family or the neighbors wouldn't do anything about it. It's all to protect the American Dream of course. Everyone wants to be hardworking and successful, which explains Joe's doing, and everyone wanting to live in a good neighborhood with their perfect family which explains the others biting their tongue. The pressure of the American Dream is responsible for Joe Keller's actions, and the fate of his family and friends. Joe Keller, like every man in his time period, wanted to be a hardworking successful man. His family means everything to him, and he looks forward to passing his booming business on to his son Chris, so that he too can have a comfortable life. When his factory produced defected plane parts, he had two choices; patch them and send them out to make the sale, or lose a days work of productions and send the product out late.
