Marriage is an important part of life and also a struggle and a war that you will continue to live for the rest of your life. As the poem “Betrothal in B Minor,” implies getting married at a young age bring many difficulties on a person. People learn about life experiences as they grow whether is in school, work, or personal relationships. Most women are force into marriage for causes such as pregnancy, family beliefs, wealth, reputation, and even because they have been victims of rape or violence. Now at the time no one thinks of the effects this will have on a young women or a man but as the poem describes marriage is a war and a struggle in life. First, one of the causes of early marriage is pregnancy. Families are afraid that if their daughter ends up pregnant before marriage the family’s reputation as well as theirs will be ruin. We live in a country in which there are rules and regulations that more than half of teens do not follow and even adults. Children as early as fifteen years old are having unprotected sex which causes them to end up pregnant and they are formed into marrying that person even if that was the first time meeting them. The effects of this is most of them divorce at an early age, some are miserable for ever because they cannot divorce, and some couples spend the rest of their lives fighting and argue in front of their children and many times violence is included in that in all this is being seen by the kids. Secondly, in many cultures if a girl is not married at a very young age something is wrong with her or the families are looking for a husband. Another reason is to honor their tribes and reputation. Most families forced their daughters into marriage between the ages of 15-18 years, there are many reason to that but the most common ones are to have children, to provide for them, and also because they force them to.
