Since the primary goal of Greek education was to achieve excellences at everything you do, the Greek mentors had to teach about how their culture worked, and also teach them different outlooks and with all this knowledge would come a great capacity of information in a wide scope of topics. When we look back and reflect on the ancient Greeks education compared to today’s modern day education theirs something to be learned. Greek mentors had a very good way of teaching culture, by making gymnastics the most important of the learning but with in this learn was religion. The reason they trained in fighting, running, boxing and wrestling was because in that time that was their top priority. Their was a lot of killing and they believed in fighting and if you died doing so it was considered to be very brave and honourable. They thought at that time dying would give them fame and they would never die. To me this is a sign of faith, so theirs some religion being taught at the same time. The ancient Greek mentors would teach you about fighting but at the same time, they would be teaching you how they thought the Gods and religion work. The mentors also would teach literacy and music because of this education from the mentors would give the Greek youth a broad outlook on life in general and would allow them to gain knowledge about the religion aspect on the Greeks time. When the ancient Greek mentors trained the Greek youths, they never just trained them in one thing; it was a very big scope of education. By doing this the youths became very knowledgeable about a lot of thing not just one thing in general. I don’t think that it was hard for them to teach this aspect, because the youth would have been aware that of what was going on in that time and also they would have seen how the real fighters were getting treated like Gods and that would be very tempting.
