Parenting styles play an integral role in the development of a child. Children are very sensitive to the environment around them, they want to explore everything, and experience all the little, big things around them. So they might be aggressive or polite depending on their parents behavior towards their children. There are three types of parenting method, which is the authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive styles of parenting. The article “Child-Rearing Styles”, written by Diana E. Papalia and Sally Wendkos Old. The psychologist Diana Baumrind, set out to discover relationships between different styles of child rearing, and the effects on child behavior. There are two influence on children behavior, the personality they are born with and how parents treat them. For example, the psychologist explain how these three types of parents styles. The first one is the Authoritarian Parents they value unquestioning obedience and punish their children forcibly for not conforming what the child was asked to do by his parents, so the child in this case tend to be discontented, withdrawn, and distrustful of others. The second one is Permissive Parents, they make some demands on their children, and hardly ever punish, as a result their kid would be immature and the least self-reliant, and least self-controlled. And the third one is The authoritative parents, they tend to exert firm control when necessary, they encourage their toddler to stand up and be confident. They respect their kids opinion, and interests so, their child is expected to perform well, they can handle the full responsibility of meeting expectations, they seem to thrive on their parents. Based on her research Baumrind gave her commendation for raising competent, trustworthy individuals, parents should take care, educate, encourage their children thoughts.
