Westbrook’s Girls Athletic program mission is to teach life lessons while providing many opportunities to compete in a comprehensive athletic program. The athletic program will complement and support the challenging academic program. The athletics programs will have the ability to sustain over time, have innovative and rigorous resources with quality personnel that represents all stakeholders. We are known for success in academics, in order for the athletic program to come up-to-par it must, maintain a level of competitive edge, public notoriety and produce coaches, athletes, teams, parents and communities willing to resourcefully solicit and support the program by any means. The success of the program lies within all representatives. Alignment with the academic history and future, while producing well rounded , level headed trendsetters will produce a successful comprehensive program that will benefit all affiliates. Currently, Westbrook Girls Athletics consist of over 100+ females the ages of 12-14 with nine female coaches. Westbrook is a gifted and talented campus that is located in a well diverse area and parents are very involved. As of now the area has limited resources and opportunities for girls to participate in sports and sports related activities and events. Within the city limits, and the other surrounding cities, only offer one sport’s league per sport (i.e. Friendswood Softball league, League City Volleyball league, etc.). Having such limited resources can place a burden on other programs. From the standpoint of Westbrook athletes may not have played any advance level of any sport, which causes our current teams to lack levels of competitiveness. Not having prior knowledge of sports can also hinder, brand awareness, limited participation and financial restrictions due to lower numbers involved with Westbrook. Based on the current trends and assessing a SWOT for the Westbrook’s Girls Athletics program the following are potential factors to consider: - Fan and participation loyalty - Lack of tradition and history - Location of facilities - Limitations of accessibility for sports for girls - Parental involvement and support - Levels of product aware
