Sarah Weeks is a writer, poetry and singer and is well-known for chapter books and novels for young readers. She was born in 1955 in Ann Arbor Michigan. Her father was English professor, I think her father influenced a lot Sarah to become a writer. She studied music composition Hampshire College in Massachusetts, then she moved to the New York City. She got married and got two sons there and settled down to raise her family. She thinks being an author was the best thing she`d ever did. When she was a girl music and writing was two things that enjoyed her. So she studied composition in college and was a singer and songwriter before she became an author. But now she's not singing and making music that much because she is busy at writing. She described her writing style on autobiography. She`s not really sure where the ideas are coming from sometimes it just appear in her head, hear, see and read something which triggers a story idea. Once she has an idea the story doesn't always come out right away. Since it has sit on her head and she thinks again and again until she understand it well enough to start writing. She works at computer, but she edit on a paper. She print out what she wrote and edit it with pencil. Instead of writing she has many other hobbies she enjoys to bake, hang out with her friends and family, talk to her mother on the phone, goes to the movies and many other things. She visits classrooms around the country talking to children about her books and novels. Her favorite place is home. She is living with her husband Kim Fyfe. He is a high school history teacher. . She has two sons Gabe and Nat. they went to public elementary, middle and high schools there. She also has step-daughter named Hailey. She is living in Chicago. Her first YA novel, So B It which we read for this semester has chosen as an ALA best book for young adults and received the 2004 parent`s choice gold award.
