?Who would’ve expected that the eating habits of our primitive ancestors could be healthier than the lifestyle that many Americans live today? Well this hunter-gatherer diet know as the Paleolithic diet has began to show evidence this lifestyle may be true. Before the establishment of agriculture, people lived mainly off of fruits, vegetables, nuts, roots and meats that lived off of the land. Nowadays most of those natural food resources have been substituted with processed foods that are include refined sugars, artificial flavoring, breads, potatoes and dairy products. These additives have given food a new taste and convenience to our every day lives but it has also taken obesity all time highs and increased our risks of health diseases. Though there have been many other different diets formulated and shown some improvement in the human health, the Paleolithic diet uses healthy method of high protein and low carbohydrate intake that will help increase weight loss and reduce the risk of chronic health diseases in a short time period. ?In Dr. Loren Cordain’s book, The Paleo Diet, he claims that eating a lot protein is a major factor that helps with losing weight and burning calories (Cordain, 1385). There isn’t an excess amount that you can eat and helps raise your metabolism and burn more calories (Cordain, 1385). These proteins mainly include a lot of meats, seafood and a few nuts, mainly walnuts. When eating all these different meats you must make sure that they’re healthy meats. As emphasized by Cordain in his book, “the Paleo Diet is not a fat-free diet, it’s a bad fat-free diet.” This means that you can eat as much as meat as you can but as long as it is “lean.” Protein is takes a longer process to break down, you wouldn’t be as hungry as usual. This type of high protein diet will help with subduing your hunger, which will lead to weight loss. ?When eating so much protein, fruits and vegetables must be included
