The future will be dominated by the use of technology. Video games will become more and more realistic. Today the main consumers of video games are teens. The majority of the games they buy are violent. The category consists of shooting, killing whoever isn’t on your side, robbing and all-out war. Teenagers are easily influenced in today’s society. They want to be more like the main character of movies, sport stars or even video game characters. Parents try to regulate what their children do and what they see or play. Although parents try to protect their children from negative influence, nevertheless, children are greatly influenced by violent video games because they want to become like the main character of the game they choose to play. In the 1970s, the first video game was released. Many people had growing concerns about the amount of violence contained in these early games, and how the violence might have a real-life effect on the people who play them. Many activist and experts in video game violence say that teenagers who play violent video games are more likely to act more aggressive and in rare cases commit violent acts than teenagers who don’t play violent video games (1). Violence is one of the many words used to describe video games. Video games have some a long way from a 2d screen playing Pong, where the most violent thing was hitting a ball form one side of the screen to the other side of the screen. This was considered high tech 30 years ago, the games we play today take place in massive and astounding environments that try to create an immersive experience for the person playing (Hoerrner, Mark, and Keisha Hoerrner). Violence in video games started up when the game Death Race was released in 1976. This video game was criticized heavily on how the video game was played. Death race was a racing game where you played as the driver who ran over other people that screamed in pain when they were ran over. (1.) Since then video games have become more and more futuristic. Video games like Grand Theft Auto has simulated real life places like California and New York City into the game where you can go visit the Golden Gate Bridge or see the Statue of Liberty or you can cause chaos and mindless violence(2). Grand Theft Auto is known as one of the most violent games these past couple years. This game involves a single player who carries out acts of violence like drug-dealing, carjacking and attacking police in order to get awards and continue the game (1).The children at home can play this game alone or with thousands of other people all around the world .( Hoerrner, Mark, and Keisha Hoerrner). In 2002, a test was conducted by a group called General Aggression Model or GAM. Brad J. Bushman and Craig A.
