If everyone had my footprint, it would take five planet earths to provide enough resources for the population. Also, it would take 22.3 global acres of productive area with energy land being the greatest use of all the lands while fishing grounds and built up land would be the fewest. This would produce 22 tons of carbon dioxide into the environment. Creating this footprint helped me realize that I consume a lot of my needs to services such as transportation, electronics, and utility uses. Since services takes up almost 50% of my total footprint there are some ways that I need to implement into my lifestyle. These can be dramatically reduced through proper awareness to decrease unnecessary usage. Instead of driving long distances by myself I would begin using a carpool system with my friends. Probably start thinking about buying a more gas friendly vehicle and selling the current car I drive. Turn off lights in rooms I wouldn’t be in and try to go outside more often instead of staying inside using my laptop and television. Cook in bunches would also help reduce the natural gas usage compared to just cooking one piece at separate times. Next in my most used resource on the footprint is goods, I like to keep up with the latest fashion trends and have the newest devices. Although I know the ill effects of purchasing a lot of items I still act on them not really giving consideration to the environment until now. Looking at the footprint helped me realize that this was a bigger issue than I thought since it came up second in my total resources used. In order to help reduce the goods area I will buy clothes and accessories less often, although it’s a good feeling buying the coolest shirt or sunglasses I already have a lot of other shirts I could wear. An ideal way to help reduce the purchases of goods is to buy things I would need such as if something broke and needed replacing or doing a reward system like instead of buying clothes oft
