Gang violence plague the streets of America in today's society. Everywhere you go it is guaranteed that you see a gang member or a gang imposter. While certain people hate gangs, some glorify it. Gang violence, whether it be a stabbing, shooting, or a murder affects almost every community in America. Gang violence is the cause of 50% of the murders in America, which is very high. Gang violence is causing havoc in America today and this is a problem that needs to be reduce quickly. A gang is defined as a group of recurrently associating individuals or close friends with identifiable leadership and internal organization, identifying or claiming control over territory in a community, and enjoying either individually or collectively in violence or other forms of illegal activity. A member of a gang is called a gangster. These gangsters live a reckless life. Gangsters or gang members associates almost exclusively with other gang members, excluding other family and friends. Gangsters are strategically placed in different levels in a gang. There are high ranks and low ranks. The higher a person is in ranks means that the gangster has "earned more stripes" or committed more acts of violence for the gang. The gangster could have even been in the gang for a long period of time and showed a lot of loyalty and respect. Some of the main ranks in a gang are: leaders, advisors, suppliers, coordinators, treasurers, street soldiers, recruiters, runners, and lookouts. When a person starts a gang, he starts as a street soldier. Not every community in America consists of gangs. There are certain communities that are prone to gang violence. Some of these communities encourage gang violence because of the lifestyles the people live. Gangs tend to be more prominent in less fortunate areas than in mid-class or high-class communities.
