Critical thinking can be defined in many ways. It is a process where an individual rationalizes judgments which are well thought and skillfully conceptualized and analyzed through evaluation of gathered information obtained by well known sources, observations, experiences, reasoning, communication or other resources. Critical thinking is a thinking process, coming from reasoned findings or decisions that are logical involving questioning arguments and conclusions. It requires searching a variety of sources, wanting evidence, rationalizing conversations with people and the opportunity to learn from others. In critical thinking, an individual makes a point to learn from the success of others. A critical thinker is willing to change his or her mind if discovers or admits that they are mistaken, by learning more information as well as by being opened to new ideas. It is crucial to consider that critical thinking is an evolving process, where the critical thinker is excited to sharpen the thinking ability by learning (as I mentioned it before). In critical thinking, individuals wear the Hat of Modesty (or Hat of Critical Thinking) since they don’t care about their progress in the learning process, meaning they ask why it will not work, they request feasibility, evidence and they are cautious. They evolve as a person every day since they are enriched with new information. They have a thirst of knowledge. They are called bookworms and or academic addicts since they are fascinated by how things work or develop. How does critical thinking aid in the educational process? Critical thinking is an innovating process that results in creativity and original ideas. Hence, critical thinking promotes the educational process through that creativity by raising important questions and problems, formulating them clearly and precisely, in order to understand the issues being discussed in and outside the educational setting.
