?My name is David _______________. I am a freshman in my second semester at Harold Washington College. My grade point average is 4.0. My goal is to complete an Associate’s degree and transfer to a four-year college to earn my bachelor's degree in psychology. After I earn my bachelor's degree, I plan to attend a medical school to become a psychiatrist. I am very passionate about this profession. There is no other career that would give me more joy than transforming peoples' lives. I strongly believe that acquiring a college education will empower me with knowledge to advance in my career. I need the CCC scholarships because I am ineligible for the federal government aid programs. I am unemployed and my insufficient financial resources make me constantly live in the fear of being a college dropout. My mother earns less than $29,800 per year, which she uses to cover her children's living expenses. Being a recipient of this scholarship will greatly relief her. It will assist me in paying for tuition, buying books, and purchasing other course materials. Instead of returning to take two classes in spring 2016, I plan to take 22 credit hours in fall 2015. Therefore, receiving this scholarship will enable me to take the necessary classes that will bring me closer to graduation in fall 2015.  Although I faced several challenges while taking 15 credit hours during my first semester, I still earned “A’s” in all my courses by studying rigorously. Through my outstanding academic commitments, I have earned the honor of becoming a presidential scholar and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I am actively involved in promoting donations and food drives on my college campus, which are anchored by the P.T.K society. I am a volunteer at “The Peace Corner Community Center, Chicago,” which has given me the opportunity to mentor two boys with autism. I was born in Lagos, Nigeria.
