If you go to anyone that follows sports they could tell you that the use of anabolic steroids is a problem. The very controversial question is should they be okay to use in sports. The answer to that question is simply no. The use of performance enhancing drugs in sports should not be legalized. There are to many things that go wrong when you use steroids, harmful to health, no integrity to the game, takes out the use of hard work and many other are reasons why steroids should not be allowed. The first reason for not legalizing steroids would be the harmful effect the drugs have on our bodies. It has been proven to cause symptoms that can alter life forever. Steroids can affect your liver, endocrine, reproductive system, and can cause cancer of some areas. The main thing steroids can affect would be an athlete’s heart. Once a person gets to big for their body type, their heart has to pump overly hard to keep blood flow to all these muscles in their body. Over time, this can wear down the heart and make it less affective and even lead to heart attacks in older age. (Stracner) Steroids are also not used properly in the amounts they needed to be taken. Most athletes over take the amount that is needed in hopes it will get them bigger, faster, stronger, it will get you there but, it is harming there body more then it even should. There is no safe way to take steroids. Every time an Athlete takes performance enhancing drugs it is proven that it is tearing their body down. These drugs can cause a major out break of acne in the chest and back are mostly. These scars caused by acne will never fully heal. Scars will also never heal at the insertion point of the needle (Staff). Steroids affect girls and guys different. In guys, it will cause breast and nipple growth and a low sperm count while in girls it will cause breast shrinkage, increase in facial and body hair, and a deeper voice.
