It is very important for us to have a strong sense of identity. As we journey through our lives, we face many different experiences. Our sense of identity is an accumulation of past experiences, which instill the unique values, attitudes and behaviors we display. As opposed to how others view us, our identity is how we view ourselves, how we view our environment as well as how we see the world. Individual’s nature as well as race, family, religion we are born into and our physical appearances cannot be ignored as it helps us to identify who we are. Cultural identity is important for people’s sense of self and how they relate to others. A strong cultural identity can contribute to people’s overall wellbeing.
