Intended Audience: Citizens of the United States of America People are being watched by the government. This is like the book 1984 by George Orwell, there is an oppressive government that keeps a close eye on its citizens. The US government is like the Party in 1984. We are living in 1984. The National Security Agency (NSA) is acting as the thought police from George Orwell’s 1984. The NSA has access to calls, emails, everything connected to the main network. The NSA is invading our personal space, they are breaking the 4th amendment of the United States Constitution. The 4th amendment states “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized” (United States Constitution). The NSA is looking at everyone’s social footprint if they are, or are not a suspect. The NSA doesn’t read word for word what is being written “It works when you send an email or otherwise use the internet, the data travels from your computer, through telecommunication companies” (NSA Article #1). This is not remotely right for the citizens of the United States to be oppressed by the NSA similar to the Party of 1984. The world is becoming 1984. Another way we can see that George Orwell’s 1984 compares to our lives is through new techn
