Empowerment is defined as A management practice of sharing information, rewards, and power with employees so that they can take initiative and make decisions to solve problems and improve service and performance. Empowerment is based on the idea that giving employees skills, resources, authority, opportunity, motivation, as well as holding them accountable for their outcomes of their actions will contribute to their bonus and satisfaction (BusinessDictionary.com, 1). Leaders must be willing to communicate every aspect of the business to its employees in an open and honest manner. This communication may include: elements of the strategic plan, financial performance, key performance indicators and daily-decision making. Many businesses in the modern world believe the philosophy that empowering employees will improve productivity and will provide other benefits. This philosophy is based on the theory that as employees are empowered to take control and make decisions, they feel more confident, capable, and determined to work more effectively and efficiently( CreditUnionTimes.com,1-2).
