The gospel of Matthew is concerning to the early churches in Israel and Judaism. These were all at the time after the fall of Jerusalem. Matthew begins his Gospel by using all the genealogy of Jesus. Matthew wanted to tell that David was the father of Jesus. Matthew perspective, Jesus is not the son of David but the son of Abraham. In Matthews’s Gospel, not in any other, he has Jesus saying he has not come to rid the world of the law but to fulfil it. Matthew is sometimes hesitated when he has to show the community of Gentiles. In the end, the disciples were sent out to all the nations to teach others what Jesus taught them. The message in Matthews’s Gospel was to tell the people not to break any law and to obey it. The way that Jesus is portrayed in Matthew’s Gospel was that Matthew saw Jesus as the King of Jews. Matthew’s Gospel was for a Jewish Christian community, that was facing some new problems in the time of reconstruction after the first revolt. The Christians faced problems from the aftermath of the revolt, as a political and social problem. Matthew 8:1-4 1 When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him; 2 and behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean."  3 And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.  4 And Jesus said to him, "See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to the people." The meaning of this miracle story to the Jewish Christian group was that we should be kind and compassionate towards others. Jesus touched a Leper to heal and cleanse him, Lepers were outcasts of society because of their conditions. During the time of Jesus this act was against the law but Jesus taught others that everyone should be kind and loving towards others. This story is not only for the Christians today but for everyone and the meaning of this miracle is that for everyone to be kind and loving towards others. In todays society people aren’t kind to each other because of their race, beliefs, and looks. Jesus’s message was for people to be compassionate to each other no matter their race or beliefs.
