Kids in our education system are affected by their peers every day. Peers are the people we hang around with. They influence us and help dictate how we act. A huge problem in our education system is peer-pressure. Peer pressure is when a person/group of people influences others to do things they typically wouldn’t do or tries to change people’s behavior toward something. While it might not seem too harmful, peer pressure can permanently change people for the rest of their lives and its effects can then dictate how others around them act, possibly leading to changes in our nation. When one person is changed by peer pressure, that one person might get others to change with him turning this into a domino effect where everyone starts acting/thinking a certain way due to peer pressure. That person influences other people who then influence other people. Although this might not always be bad (everyone starts recycling, going solar, adopting, etc) peer pressure can and is used in many bad ways. Children are first molded by their parents, but after spend the rest of their childhood around people their own age during school. Education system are where children develop the majority of their knowledge and what children do at education system ultimately affects them for them rest of their lives, affecting what type of college they go to, what type of friends they keep, and how they carry themselves as an individual. Children usually discover who they are in school which is why peer pressure is such an important aspect in the school system. Peer pressure can also affect someone’s education. But why do children fall under peer pressure? When I was in my Pre-Calculus class in 12th grade, we started off with twenty-two people. There were three of the popular kids (who also happened to be the smartest kids) in that class.
