"Intelligence" is a broad term that can have many different meanings to it. Many might have intelligence in educational fields; while another’s intelligence may be in daily life activities: communication, street smarts, cooking and so on. Intelligence is everywhere and in everything, and as it progresses to great things, so does technology. As time goes by, and as technology becomes a great part in the lives of many, people start to question whether this advancement has an effect on the intelligence of the human mind. Carr is like many others, has stated that this technology has made the human mind less applicable and has become an “artificial intelligence,” causing the human mind to not truly understand any concept. New changes sometimes bring negative views because the clear effect is not know yet. Technology brings a new way of thinking that is so much faster and clearer in a way that it does not have not negative thing. Nicholas Carr is and widely known writer that is known by his books and blogs in which he makes clear observations about technology and its effect on the human mind. In one of his pieces “ Is Google Making Us Stupid?” Carr makes clear to the audience that technology has slowed down the understanding of the brain making the humans intelligence “artificial” (in his own words). Carr tries showing the readers that the internet itself is weakening the reading habits of those who use the computer often. He uses many of his colleagues as examples of how their reading has changed and the way the take in information, as well as his own experience. “Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words. Now I zip along the surface like a guy on a Jet Ski” ( Carr733). Carr uses this as a way to show that he once read and took in all the information slowly and processed it, but now his way of taking in the information has become much faster and he now skims through the readings just to find the major point or answer he
