What is organizational culture? Culture is a shared behavior, made up of values, beliefs and attitudes. Within an organization, culture is a force that drives its everyday functioning. Organizational culture is the key to success of any organization and an important factor in quality healthcare and should change with demand. “Because of the complexity and changing circumstances, there is not one best organizational structure. The design should help coordinate resources to achieve the organizational goals. Institutions need to be adaptive, creative and robust to solve the ever-changing challenges (Tomey A. M. 2009).” This paper will discuss the writer’s opinions in correlation with chosen topics: predominant leadership style, types of power, conflict management approaches and forces of magnetism. Predominant Leadership Style In the nursing profession, leadership development is important because it impacts the delivery of care. Leadership should not be about the needs of a manager, but should be derived from the needs of the staff, patients and organization. Within leadership, there a predominant styles known as transactional and transformational leadership styles, both are very different in the nursing profession. Transactional leadership provides encouragement on task-oriented objectives for a theory of social exchange.
