Vocation navigation is not only important to an individual but also relates to social benefits. Almost all students have a hard time after graduating from college and trying to find a job for both their interests and life demands. A reason for that situation is that they follow their parents’ wishes and study a major at which they aren’t really good. As a result, they wasted time and ended up jobless or bored in their work. In other case, because of social points of view, unqualified students are also trying to enter college with the thought that this is the only way for future success. Therefore, in my opinion, high schools should give all students vocational education that will help them discover their ability and prepare themselves for a specific vocation in the future. First, vocational education helps student to find out their interests and abilities and continue to improve for the future career. The 1990 Perkins Act defined vocational education as "organized educational programs which are directly related to the preparation of individuals in paid or unpaid employment in current or emerging occupations requiring other than a bachelor or advanced degree." Some people say that students should be free to learn anything they want until they know what is the best for them. Indeed, that might be true somehow. But, it will be also waste their time with an unclear goal. As a result, according to reports of Department Labor force, more than 60 percent of freshmen usually change their job just after one year working in the area they studied in college. For example, in my own case, without vocational education in high school, I studied finance, following my mother’s wish without passion and just after one year of working, I changed my job, looking for a more interesting environment.
