It will show how television stations take what the public wants to see based on ratings in previous weeks and use it in the future to maximize their ratings. When these television stations maximize their ratings, they bring in more profits as a business and keep viewers coming back, increasing their income. Fans view sporting events based on the interest of the games. The interest of the game is going to increase if individuals have made bets of any kind on a particular game or tournament. The television stations are going to broadcast the games that will have the most amounts of viewers to maximize their profits. Television stations will take advantage of these situations to see what the fans would like to see and will broadcast accordingly. This will be the form of communication that will be involved in the research paper. Introduction How does gambling on sports positively affect the television stations? Broadcasters such as CBS, ESPN and Fox use ratings to determine which games they will decide to air for the following days and weeks. These television stations will air whatever the people want to see so that they can maximize their profits as much as possible and have their viewers return for the next games. This form of communication has made a positive influence among viewers of the sports world. Broadcasting the games that will have the largest amount of viewers is the key to making them come back week after week. In the end, the main goal for these television broadcasters is to make a profit, and the way for them to do that is by following the trends of what the fan base wants to see. What are the most popular ways of gambling in the sports world? The most traditional way of gambling is just betting the spread on a game whether it is online or with a bookie. But in recent years, fantasy football has become the most popular way of gambling. This increase in popularity for fantasy football has even changed the way that television stations broadcast their games. And another increasingly popular form of gambling that has spread is through bracketology for the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament. This tournament has not only made a national stage for numerous sponsors to spread their product, but television stations are putting down billions of dollars to just broadcast this three week tournament. Why have the ratings of sporting events increased drastically over the past decade? People draw interest to games when they are personally affected by the outcome of the game. Two ways of the people becoming affected by it include, first of all being a fan of a team that is playing and secondly having a player or team that could potentially help you financially. If an individual puts money on a game, then they find an interest in watching a game that they would not normally be interested in watching. The ratings for the March Madness tournament have increased drastically and now make every game available to watch either on television, online or on the radio. This has help spread the popularity of the tournament over the past decade because it is convenient to the viewer anywhere they go.
