“Guns don’t kill people, Americans kill people." - Michael Moore That is a true fact; but why is it too easy to own a gun? Many people in the whole united states have that same question. There has been plenty of crimes committed by someone who owns a gun legally. Teenagers, adults, even old people have committed horrendous crimes having a legal gun that they got it as easy as buying candy. Carrying a firearm is a big responsibility and it can cause a tragedy in the wrong hands. As the amendment two states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”. It gives the people the right to carry a gun, but it does not regulate them, and the laws that exist nowadays does not work as good as the government thought. Guns have to be better regulated by the government and those who sell them. In the year 2011, 414,562 crimes were committed with fire arms in the US. From these incidents, there have been 467,321 victims. Although not the highest number of crimes done during past years (In 2005 there were 446,365 incidents, in 2006 a high of 552,035 crimes and 2007 about 448,414 firearm crime committed) it seems to be slowly rising from 2008 an all-time low of 331,618. In 2009 there were 383,390 incidents and in 2010 a number of 378,801 of crimes using guns happened. In 2011, 67.8 of all homicides involved guns and 72.5 of these were with small guns such as handguns. In Canada, laws regarding gun control are stricter than those in the United States. According to Dylan Matthews in his article “Here's how gun control works in Canada”, “All gun owners have to be licensed, and all handguns and most semiautomatic weapons have to be registered. Handguns can't be carried out of the home, either concealed or openly, except with a specific license, which is usually only given to people who need guns for work. Licenses require training in gun safety and an extensive background check. Guns have to be kept locked and unloaded.” In Canada, everyone needs a license in order to have a firearm. They need to be at least 18 years of age and must pass a firearm safety test. Here in the U.S, there is no need for a license in most states. “In a comparison of the number of privately owned guns in 178 countries, Canada ranked at No. 12” (“Canada - Gun Facts, Figures and the Law” n.d.). In 2006, Canada suffered 871 deaths due to firearms w
