In the U.S., people can notice a lot of homeless people. In Maryland alone, there are a lot of homeless people standing by the traffic lights at busy intersections asking for change or food. Homelessness is a social illness that people seem to ignore. People can become homeless for many reasons: losing a job, addiction to drugs and mental illness. There are three effectives ways the U.S. government can do to help reduce homelessness. First, the government should ask private organizations or businesses to help finance people who are struggling and potentially leading to the loss of their homes and become homeless. Second, companies or businesses need to secure the jobs for their employees and offer contract programs. The third way to reduce homelessness is to provide more centers that could treat drug addiction and mental illness. First, the U.S. government can request wealthy companies or organizations to donate money to the government to fund programs helping people who are financially struggling to the point of loosing their homes. This will not be fair for those companies of course. So the government needs to offer them a tax reduction or even a tax break incentive. Many companies pay lots of money to the IRS for taxes equivalent to their revenue at the end the of each year, so if the government encourages these companies by telling them that they will catch a break of $100,000 for every $60,000 donated to this program. It will work. Homeless people will not lose their homes. The second way the U.S. government can do to reduce homelessness is to have employers provide job security. Nowadays, job security is an important factor for people to be able to survive or support their families and themselves by assuring them a full-time job from which they can earn monthly income and pay their expenses.
