Many factors could affect one’s diet. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines diet as food and drink regularly provided or consumed. Depending on the culture, availability, religion, and health people’s diet might vary. Diet preference is a major factor in obesity and overweight conditions, which become a very serious issues. These days people are aware of what is causing the problem. As many people are suffering from obesity and overweight, it becomes very necessary to choose one’s diet wisely. Due to the fact that over half the population in the United States of America is experiencing obesity or overweight conditions, it is absolutely necessary to adjust diet preferences. “More than two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese” (Ogden et al., 2014). One of the popular techniques of losing weight is using a special diet: such as low fat and low carb diet. Even though both types of diets are about cutting down the portion, low carb diet is very different from low fat diet because it is proven to work better and help protect from heart disease by avoiding the excess carbs that clog the blood circulation. Mostly, people consider a lot of things when choosing special diet types such as: how effectively will the diet help to lose extra body weight? What are the risks? and how expensive is the diet? Taking all factors into consideration, these days people are using low carb (carbohydrate) and low fat diets. Especially because of health issues that come along with being overweight, most people are trying every possible way to lose weight.
